Robert Helmreich

Robert Helmreich is a now retired former Professor of Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin where he taught from 1966 through to 2008. He is widely regarded as one of the leading academics in his field and has contributed significantly to the areas of Aviation Human Factors, Crew Resource Management and the study of Culture in Aviation. Authoring or co-authoring in excess of two hundred academic articles or reports, Robert Helmreich was also a key developer of the process now known as a Line Operations Safety Audit which has since received significant support from ICAO.

Awards

Amongst his many awards, Robert Helemreich was awarded the Flight Safety Foundation Distinguished Service Award in 1994 for his work in the area of Crew Resource Management. He has also been recognised by Aviation Week and Space Technology in 1994 and 2002 respectively for his contribution to the Aviation Industry and by the major aircraft manufacturers themselves with Airbus Industsrie presenting him with their award for Human Factors in 2004.
