Major parts of a hot air balloon and their function

The envelope

The envelope is the bag that hold the hot air and allows the balloon to gain lift and fly.


The burner heats up the air inside the ballloon to provide lift.


The basket (or gondola) holds passengers and cargo, as appropriate.
