Nigeria Airways Flight 2120: Under pressure

Synopsis

On 11 July 1991 Nigeria Airways Flight 2120 crashed at King Abdulaziz International Airport. The aircraft type was Douglas DC-8-61 and it took off King Abdulaziz International Airport, heading to SadiqAbubakar III International Airport in Sokoto. Pilot reported some problems just after departure. The captain decided to go back to the airport for an emergency landing, but the aircraft was on fire, had an inflight break-up, and crashed 2,875 metres (9,432 ft) short of the runway. By the time it crashed, the fire had destroyed at least partly, the cabin floor, because a number of dead bodies fell from it when the aircraft was on short final. A total of 261 people including 247 passengers were killed in the accident. This accidents is the deadliest one relating to a DC-8 (Wikipedia, 20122).
